Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and execute all aspects of the football program, including practices, games, and team-building activities both during the season and pre-season.
- Develop and implement game strategies suited to 8-man football.
- Teach and mentor student-athletes, emphasizing physical fitness, discipline, and character development.
- Maintain high standards of safety and sportsmanship.
- Coordinate with assistant coaches, trainers, and school administration.
- Manage team schedules, transportation, and equipment needs.
- Engage with parents, students, and the school community to promote the program.
- Ensure compliance with all MHSAA rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience coaching football at the high school level or equivalent; knowledge of 8-man football preferred.
- Strong understanding of football techniques, strategies, and player development.
- Commitment to fostering academic success alongside athletic achievement.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends for practices, games, and team events.
- Communicates effectively with the Athletic Department and Varsity Coach regarding scheduling, budget, injuries, etc.
- Communicates effectively with Suttons Bay Athletic Boosters in support of their program
- Communicates effectively with parents and the community regarding all aspects of the program
- Follows district policies and procedures regarding facility use, transportation, purchasing, fundraising, etc.
- Provides adequate supervision of events until all athletes have left the facilities
- Maintains adequate records of rosters, stats and awards
- Effectively recognizes the efforts of student-athletes and plans special events in this regard (banquets, parent night, etc.)
- Establishes and maintains the importance of the meaning of student-athlete, including check-ins with all stakeholders about student eligibility
- Must be CPR and First Aide Certified

Terms of Employment
- Part-time, sport season position.
- Pay is based on Schedule B of the SBEA contract
- Athletic positions are for a period of one season (school year) and require yearly Board of Education approval with positive evaluations.
