Job Title: REPORTS TO: Elementary Physical Education Teacher Building Principals JOB SPECIFICS: The teacher shall serve as the education leader. This position is a long-term substitute position and will be for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year, from approximately January 13, 2025 - June 6, 2025. DISTRICT DESCRIPTION: Elk Rapids Schools has approximately 973 students in grades K-12 and is located in the northwest lower peninsula. Elk Rapids Schools also serves as an authorizer of Mill Creek Academy, a K-5th grade District that educates approximately 230 students. This position would provide Physical and Health Education for K-5 students in both Districts. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Establish a classroom structure that values positive relationships through intentional implementation of the district curriculum and the vision of high-quality instruction. ? Establish a classroom culture that supports the non-academic needs of all students in order to remove barriers that interfere with success. ? Organize and implement a physical education program to promote the development of student’s physical attributes and encourage a healthy lifestyle. ? Design and implement a wide variety of appropriate instructional activities for students of varying abilities and talents. ? Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. ? Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. ? Observe and evaluate each student’s performance and development. ? Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. ? Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students, provide appropriate feedback on work, and use information to adjust teaching strategies according to student needs. ? Maintain accurate and complete records of student’s progress and development. ? Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.. ? Organize and maintain inventory of school-owned equipment and instructional materials.
