Glen Lake Community Schools is seeking qualified, passionate applicants for the position of Elementary Engagement Specialist to work closely with the elementary counselor and principal in supporting the academic and social-emotional development of all elementary students. The Elementary Engagement Specialist will play a key role in removing barriers to learning by addressing student behavior, supporting school-wide initiatives, and collaborating with the counseling team. Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Engagement Specialist include, but are not limited to, the following: Behavioral Support and Student Well-Being ? Understand and address student behaviors, promoting positive choices and emotional regulation ? Help maintain a safe and orderly school environment to optimize learning opportunities for all students ? Serve as the Positivity Patrol Advisor, encouraging and fostering a positive school climate ? Implement and support school-wide behavioral procedures and expectations ? Organize and manage lost-and-found items, raising awareness among students and families ? Facilitate restorative practices to resolve social conflicts between students ? Advise the Student Council, guiding students in leadership, school involvement, and positive decision-making ? Conduct movement breaks to support students' focus and well-being ? Provide Tier I, II, and III behavioral supports based on student needs ? Intervene in behavioral crisis, using de-escalation techniques and restorative conversations ? Communicate with parents/guardians about student-specific behavioral or social situations ? Collaborates with the student, their parents, and other school personnel to build and support a strong support mechanism for the student ? Participate as a member of the crisis team (N-VCI/CPI trained) Collaboration with the Counseling Department ? Assumes the role of McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Liaison ? Partner closely with the elementary counseling department to address student needs ? Attend weekly elementary counseling meetings ? Attend district-wide counseling meetings, as needed ? Assist the counseling team with community-based initiatives and student support programs ? Coordinate and manage programs with community partners to support the non-academic needs of students ? Support the implementation of school assistance programs and student services General Elementary School Support ? Serve as a substitute teacher when needed ? Provide recess and lunch coverage ? Assist with classroom support during teacher meetings or professional development sessions ? Provide coverage for elementary office staff as needed ? Maintain the highest standards of privacy and confidentiality when dealing with student and family information Qualifications: ? Preferred bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, or a related field ? Experience working with children in a formalized educational or social setting ? Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families ? Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail ?
